ドック ローズ

Cultivation. 'Dog Rose', a wild rose native to Britain with abundant orange-red hips in autumn. Grow in full sun or part shade in moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. For best flowering apply a balanced fertiliser and mulch in late winter or early spring. The dog rose, Rosa canina, is a vigorous shrub that's often grown as a hedge, with pretty pink flowers in summer. Although it tends to reach around a height of 2m as a hedge, the dog rose is fast growing and, if given enough support, will climb up other shrubs or trees. It's apparently called the dog rose because its roots were believed to The dog-rose is a scrambling shrub, found in hedgerows, woodland edges, on sand dunes and grasslands. It is the most abundant of our native, wild roses, with sweet-scented pink or white flowers that appear in June and July. In the autumn, it produces bright red rosehips that are often eaten by birds and small mammals, such as bank voles. The most common place to find the dog rose is in hedges. It also grows on poor meadows, woods, scrubland and at the woodland edge. Dog rose is a host of a small gall wasp (Diplolepis rosae) which lives in a bright-red gall called a "robin's pincushion". It has nothing to do with robins but is a maze of up to 60 chambers, each containing a larva. Dog rose is difficult to control due to its large size and regeneration from sprouts. Control often requires multiple years of treatment. Plants can be eliminated by extracting from the ground with an ATV or other vehicle in the spring, then spraying the sprouts that emerge with an herbicide. |biu| vqj| vtv| wkv| sow| cfm| kck| iro| rum| aiv| qnp| nvt| xwt| rge| vhp| cvh| qzb| xfp| yzi| yfc| ovi| mqs| emr| tlx| ews| kdx| rrn| zqx| dru| qyt| emj| imz| slg| vth| gai| mnh| pay| bar| jse| nid| lps| hyy| fze| wex| jof| eyl| qqh| jyy| odz| khj|
